The Academic Training Programme of the “Méthode Russe de Monte-Carlo de Lorena Baricalla” (“The Lorena Baricalla Monte Carlo Russian Method”) is based on international criteria.

It is a unique evaluation system which allows for the pupil’s positioning in the international panorama of ballet according to 14 levels of study.

For each level there are goals which must be reached and there is a precise list of theclassical ballet steps to be studied.

Fundamental to the programme are the annual Exams, original choreographies with academic steps expressly created by Lorena Baricalla. They contain for each level of study all the technical and artistic difficulties, the quality and speed of execution according to established standards.
They consist of a succession of regular stages which allow for effective progression.

Thanks to the use of the “Method”, the affiliated schools can take their pupils to a much higher ballet level even when school studies limit the time the pupils can dedicate to training.

The “Method” takes pupils to a professional level or an advanced amateur level, with the learning of quality ballet contributing to each individual’s psycho-physical development and his-her future  professional possibilities.

Moreover the didactic approach of the “Method” is based on a body-mind-soul Full Development Training, useful to the emotional balance and the well-being of each athlete-artist.
The main points are:analysis of the mechanics of the body, memory development, muscular dynamics, ability to self-manage, concentration and awareness of the body, visualization of movement, projection of energy, development of the athlete-performer, growth in individual artistic expressiveness and the ability to use the body in diverse styles of dance.

A School’s Affiliation allows access to the “Method” Academic Training Programme for the study of Classical Ballet.
This requests the participation in the Training and Refresher Course for Ballet Teachers, validated with Certificates of Qualification in Teaching the “Method”according the level achieved. The course provides teachers with the best understanding and use of the Academic Training Programme including the Exam Steps. (See chapter relating to Courses for Ballet Teachers)

Affiliation to the School is entered in the Register of Affiliated Schools on the official “Method” website. (See the chapter dedicated to Affiliated Schools)

Each year, pupils from Affiliated Schools can participate in the International Exams of Monte Carlo which bring together the Affiliated Schools and which take place before a prestigious judging panel of ballet stars and the attendance of well-known people.
On passing the exams, pupils receive a Certificate according to the level achieved.
These certificates are recorded in the Register of Dancers on the official “Method” website in the categories of “Pupil in Professional Training with Study Record Book”or “Pupil in Amateur Training”.
Study Bursaries are offered at the time of the exams.
During the year the “Method” organises Training Booster Master Classes with prima ballerina Lorena Baricalla.  These sessions bring together pupils from a number of schools, or on request, may take place in the Schools themselves.
As well, pupils can apply for admission to the Course for Professional Training with Study Record Book.
This course consists of 4 training sessions a year aimed at the profession or at a more in-depth study providing higher qualification, and allows pupils to benefit from the teaching and experience of the ballet star Lorena Baricalla. Professional and Amateur Training for Classical Ballet Dancers

The Academic Programme of the “Lorena Baricalla Monte-Carlo Russian Method” for the Study of Classical Ballet consists of 14 levels subdivided as Introductory Training, Preparatory, Intermediate, Superior and Professional.

The “Method” carries to a professional level or to a top quality amateur level.
Dancers are trained from 4 years of age to 18/20 years.

The Academic Training Programmeis based on international criteria.
Each exam is aimed at a specific age group. As a rule, the complete programme is planned to finish when the pupil reaches 18/20 years, but it can also be carried out according to an individual pupil’s ability.
To calculate the appropriate age in relation to each level, we advise that a pupil’s actual age is evaluated at the time of the exam session in April.

The Academic Training Programme and the Exam Steps can only be followed at Amateur Level as a quality training which contributes to the psycho-physical development and the future of each pupil. Dance’s formative benefits at a disciplinary, mnemonic, physical, mental, cultural and artistic level are well known.

Having finished the complete programme of Professional studies, the pupil is a professional dancer.
Therefore the “Method” prepares them for auditions for annual or “single show” contracts in ballet companies.
We emphasise that the best training in Classical Ballet is the base for every style of dance practised nowadays in ballet companies, international shows and events with programmes that span classical, contemporary, modern, jazz, musical, etc.
Professional dancers can also apply to work in entertainment sectors in general.
The “Method” will advise pupils of their best professional direction, according the results achieved.
